Introducing the Yellow Pear Tomato
The Yellow Pear tomato is sweet with fruit that is 1½-inches, yellow, and pear-shaped. The fruit has a mild flavor and is great for fresh eating or for making tomato preserves. Very productive plants are easy to grow. My husband and children love eating these!
History of the Yellow Pear Tomato
The yellow pear tomato can be traced back to Europe as early as the 17th century. In 1752 records show the English using it for flavoring soups. The earliest known reference to this heirloom in North America comes from the sales records of the Hudson Bay Company in Vancouver, Canada in 1825. This variety has a history of being passed down within a family or community, similar to the generational sharing of certain items like jewelry or furniture.
