Introducing the Carbon Tomato
Carbon tomatoes are an award-winning variety of tomatoes that has held it’s own for the last few years!
The fruit of a Carbon Tomato is smooth, large, and beautiful, and one of the darkest and prettiest of the purple! Its flesh is extremely meaty and delicious. The Carbon tomato is great for slicing and is fantastic in sauces! It has a complex smoky flavor that is a treat to taste!
History of the Carbon Tomato
The history and country of origin is still unknown with the earliest information coming from Seed Savers 1998 yearbook listing by George Weiss of North Babylon, NY. Unfortunately, Mr. Weiss did not include his source for seed or any historical information. I wrote a letter a couple of years ago to his wife to see if she may have some insight but nothing ever came from it. Oh well, I tried. If anyone has more information on the history, please let me know and I will include it here.
