Planting Seeds of Hope for Children Worldwide

Every child deserves safety, love, and a future filled with hope. Yet too many children today are facing valleys no one should ever have to walk through, including domestic violence, abuse, trafficking, abandonment, or long-term illness.

I know those valleys personally. Years ago, I was a child who walked through darkness, and then later, as an adult, I lived in a domestic violence shelter, and I’ll never forget the fear, uncertainty, and longing for something better. Out of that experience was born a deep calling: to use my art and writing to reach children in those same situations, reminding them that they are seen, valued, and never alone.

The Happy Little Sunflower: A Book with a Mission

My children’s book, The Happy Little Sunflower: Finding Hope in the Valley, was created with this very mission in mind. It tells the story of resilience and hope through gentle words and watercolor illustrations painted in muted, calming tones for children who are facing overwhelming change.

I painted the child in the story so that any child could see themselves in its pages. I included a cheerful yellow dragonfly named Hope to spark joy, and I closed the book with Bible verses so children can carry truth in their hearts wherever life takes them. Every detail is intentionally crafted to give comfort, courage, and light.

A Greater Dream

But this book is just the beginning. My greater mission is to place The Happy Little Sunflower: Finding Hope in the Valley & its Coloring & Scripture Companion into the hands of children worldwide, especially those living in:

Domestic violence shelters
Safe houses for victims of trafficking
Children’s hospitals
Foster care and group homes
Communities recovering from disaster

I believe that stories have the power to heal, and that hope, when planted early, can change the trajectory of a child’s life.

Why I Need Partners

This mission is bigger than one person. To reach millions of children, I am seeking partnerships with influencers, Christian leaders, ministries, publishers, and organizations who share my passion for child advocacy and the healing power of story.
